Copywriting For Internet Marketing

Published by admin under Internet Marketing

Copywriting is the use of words to promote a person, business, opinion, or idea. Although the word copy may be applied to any content intended for printing (as in the body of a newspaper article or book), the term copywriter is generally limited to such promotional situations, regardless of media (as advertisements for print, television, radio or other media). The author of newspaper or magazine copy, for example, is generally called a reporter or writer, not a copywriter.

(Although the word copywriting is correctly and regularly used as a noun or gerund, and copywrite is sometimes used as a verb by professionals, copywrite is not listed by major dictionaries.Copywrite as a noun is always incorrect.)

Thus the purpose of marketing copy, or promotional text, is to persuade the reader, listener or viewer to act — for example, to buy a product or subscribe to a certain viewpoint. Alternatively, copy might also be intended to dissuade a reader. Copywriting is “getting across the perfect message, with the perfect words.”

Copywriting can appear in direct mail pieces, taglines, jingle lyrics, web page content (although if the purpose is not ultimately promotional, its author might prefer to be called a content writer.), online ads, e-mail and other Internet content, television or radio commercial scripts, press releases, white papers, catalogs, billboards, brochures, postcards, sales letters, and other marketing communications media.

One of the first steps to writing your website content is to ask yourself three questions:

  • Who is my target market?
  • What information are they looking for?
  • What action do you want your visitor to take?

These are three important questions because web copywriting isn’t just putting a bunch of web content on your pages. The most common mistake that people make when they are writing website content is writing about themselves or trying to sell something too quickly. Most people don’t surf the internet to buy stuff, they are looking for information. How quickly do you leave a website when you’re looking for info and all you read is stuff like “Welcome to our website”, “Our company has been trading since…”, “Cheap products”.

The thing is, you can’t write your web content around the product you want to sell (although that’s why you’re writing web copy in the first place). You have to give the people the information they need to make an informed decision about your product.

Having Fun with Favicon

Published by Busy Mom under Freebies, Website Design

What is Favicon? Favicon is also called favorites icon, page icon and url icon. If you now see your browser’s URL bar, you should be able to see a green icon with a “M” (yes, it stands for Mommy Business Club). That little icon is the Favicon.  I just made this tonight for Free. May be the quality of my image is not good enough, so the “M” is not as sharp as I expected.

Browsers that support favicons usually display them in the URL bar, next to the site’s name of your bookmark list, and next to the page’s title in a tabbed document interface.

There are many websites offer free Favicon generator. I saw one website charges $75 to design one! Six Revisions has a list of free Favicon generators, which saves your time to research. So, have fun with making your own Favicon.

Internet Home Business Resources

Published by admin under Home Business Tips

For some individuals, the thought of working from home is so inviting that they are willing to leave the security of their day jobs to pursue this goal. However, deciding on what business to go into is something that entails a lot of planning. Aside from luck, you need to prepare yourself for the various challenges that lie ahead in your chosen endeavor.

You may wonder as to the reasons why people are encouraged to establish their own home business. Given that your odds in succeeding or failing are fairly equal still, there are a number of people who are taking a chance at becoming a home based entrepreneur. You are probably motivated by the personal experiences of those who have managed to do well in their business. You must have received emails forwarded by other people containing testimonials of how their business strategy worked for them. Business as well as entrepreneurial magazines and books are abundant in articles highlighting the triumphs of certain individuals in penetrating the industry they belong to.

You have many options in case you want to operate your own home business. Almost any goods or service may be traded to the public for as long as law does not prohibit them. If your interest lies on having an online business, you will not have any problems in looking for the right resources. In order to come up with an informed decision regarding your planned business, you need to conduct thorough research and analysis.

For Internet home business resources, you can start by browsing and researching online. You can find a lot of helpful business directories that can direct you to the appropriate websites. Soon, you will realize that several choices are available to you. You can do affiliate marketing, auctioning, graphic designing, tutoring or web designing online. You can broaden or limit your search depending on what data you seek.

In addition to the information accessible on the Internet, you may also want to try reading business magazines. There are newsletters or periodicals published by those involved in the field of business. You may pick an idea or two in determining what Internet home business would be good for you. The local and school libraries are bound to have such magazines, which you can borrow to read at your own leisure. Books revealing their actual experiences on how they achieved financial freedom have also been written by people who started small just like you. By reading and taking notes, you may be able to come up with the same formula for success in your own Internet home business. It is an advantage if you personally know someone that is successful in this field. You can ask for that person’s guidance and pointers to avoid or prevent any problems that may lead you to fail.

If you have time, perform an exhaustive study on what type of Internet home business you want to create. It must be something that you are passionate about, as this would require you to make some sacrifices. Utilize the resources efficiently so that you are adequately prepared for any difficulties that you encounter in setting up and running your business.

Compelling Web Copy For The Web 2.0 Audience — If Salesletters Are Dead, What Works On The Web Nowadays?

Published by admin under Internet Marketing

Have you had this experience before? –> You receive an e-mail from an Internet marketing “guru” endorsing a new product. You then click through to the website which displays the sales copy — and you buy (or don’t buy) the product based on the strength of the endorsement — not necessarily on how well the copy is written.

Sound familiar?

This model of doing business has been used successfully, both online and offline. Endorsements by “big name” personalities — or people we at least admire or respect — influence our frame of mind so much that we tend to look favorably on whatever it is they’re endorsing. And sometimes this “star struck” response makes us perceive the sales copy favorably as well, no matter how cheesy it might be.

This got me thinking about how well a piece of sales copy would perform if it were to stand alonewithout someone’s endorsement preceding the website visit. Could this be the reason why Internet marketing “gurus” boast off-the-charts sales figures — because they have an army of joint venture partners endorsing their product — something most of us “average Joes” will never have? More importantly, has this “old boy” network given rise to the proliferation of sub-standard sales copywriting because of the complacency that the copy is given the “halo” of credibility by endorsements?

Indeed, when you look closely at the caliber of sales copywriting that many of the top marketers utilise, it insults the intelligence of people and often elicits the reaction, “Do people really buy this crap? Whom do they think they’re fooling?”

Between 2005 to 2008, I believe there’s been a progressive decline in the effectiveness of the salesletter. So much so that in late 2007, Michel Fortin published a 51-page report titled “The Death of the Salesletter” which talks about the downhill weakening in the effectiveness of the typical “Dear Friend” salesletter as far as selling on the Internet is concerned.

In the report, the author admits that most of the other top Internet marketers like John Reese predict the eventual demise of “ugly websites” (long-scrolling formulaic web copy with the usual glaring fonts, the laundry list of overvalued bonuses, the endless P.S.’s, etc.). These are sites that Armand Morin calls “cartoonish” websites. Many other Internet marketing leaders like Mike Filsaime also agree that the cookie-cutter salesletter-style copy is falling out of favor.

Michel calls for a move toward writing more editorial-like sales copy that gives more content; turning the sales process into an experience; eliminating overused copywriting tactics that no longer work — and ultimately producing copy that’s stronger, pithier and more to the point.

Recently, I found a website that features irresistible web copy that I think ought to be the new standard for writing copy for the Internet population. It’s written in the editorial style and it’s a refreshing departure from the hackneyed, “snake oil salesman,” Slick Willie kind of sales pitching. It gives a lot of compelling information before “going for the kill” and it made me feel like I was reading an informative article about a topic of interest to me, instead of being sold to.

It employs an elegant, soft sell approach that, nevertheless, packs a powerful punch — and best of all, it respects, not insults, the intelligence of the reader. In my opinion, this is compelling web copy that we should all emulate. The copy still utilised a long-scrolling webpage, but I found it a highly intriguing and entertaining read.
Considering that I was a cold prospect who arrived at the website after clicking on a Google search result, and I didn’t arrive there via the endorsement of a colleague or “guru” — and on top of all that, I’m definitely not one who’s easily “sold” — this speaks volumes about the power of this piece of sales copy.

Granted, I happen to be the exact target audience of the eBook being sold on the website (titled “The One-Minute Cure: The Secret to Healing Virtually All Diseases”), I still think there’s a lot of magic going on in this editorial style of sales copywriting.

It would be immensely valuable for marketers to deconstruct the sales copy to discover the elements that make people want to buy. Better still, if we can find out who wrote this brilliant sales copy, we can pick his or her brain to see if we can learn the hidden psychology behind this kind of copy.

If we, marketers, learn the inner workings of this editorial style of sales copywriting, we could all make a bloody killing in them thar Internet hills!

If this trend towards editorial style copywriting were to become the norm, I can’t help but wonder what will become of those fill-in-the-blanks template-based copywriting programs that produce cookie-cutter pieces of sales copy that look like everyone else’s.

The Rising Demand for Internet Marketing Virtual Assistants

There is a definitive growing demand for internet marketing virtual assistants, but it’s also certainly no secret that the online world can be a competitive one when it comes to certain business niches. However, with the right type of marketing efforts, it’s definitely possible for one to outshine the others and quickly set themselves apart from the rest.

In addition to the many individual entities and small companies conducting businesses via the internet, larger corporations are also following suit and hiring virtual employees to oversee the online aspects of their business. Luckily for the prospective IMVA, many are unaware of how to remain competitive and how things like a well thought out website can make the difference between attracting new customers and imminent failure.

The Benefits of Being an IMVA

The benefits of becoming an internet marketing virtual assistant are numerous and plentiful. For one, you are able to set your own hours and dictate when and how long you devote to working each week, which is ideal if you have children and a household to run along with managing and growing your business. Compare to virtual assistant, you can charge a much higher hourly rate if you position yourself as internet marketing virtual assistant. I hired IMVA a few times, their average hourly rate is $45. It sounded a lot to me when I first used IMVA, but then, I found it worth the price.

Being an IMVA will also benefit one’s own business endeavors by staying on top of the latest trends in internet marketing such as search engine optimization (SEO), keyword placement, and how it’s possible to make an impressive income by affiliate programs alone.

Virtual Assistant Business – What You will Need to Start

Published by Busy Mom under Virtual Assistant

Perhaps one of the very best things to become a virtual assistant is the sheer minimal amount of equipment needed to get your business off the ground and up and running. The very first, and most necessary, thing you will need is a computer, and ideally, a small home office as well.

There are a few software programs that you will also need in order to handle your client’s needs and also to communicate with them. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or similar free programs, are the ones you can count on needing for certain. Other items you may need include basic office supplies such as a filing cabinet, paper, printer, and also a telephone and fax machine.

The Needed Skills and Characteristics

To be a virtual assistant there are a certain number of skills and characteristics needed in order to be successful, the first of which is being well organized. While it’s true that in essence you are your own boss as you’re working from home for yourself, you still must answer to your clients as they will be the ones who are paying the bills and who you will rely upon should you need future references.

Taking Full Advantage Of Your Effectiveness By Examining Your Time

To become more productive in your business, you must first take note of how you are currently spending the majority of your time.

What matters is how productive you are. It doesn’t matter how much time you spend working on your business, if you’re not doing the things that really matter, you’re just wasting your time.

You can spend hours of time visiting various sites, spying on your competitors, reading different articles or blog posts, and researching the forums to see what people have to say about specific topics related to your market, but this type of activity, in and of itself, isn’t productive.

It doesn’t matter where you spend the majority of time, write down every little thing you do with your time. Include the amount of time spent on those activities, so you can begin the process of cutting unnecessary activities from your life.

Do you get caught in the “OCD Loop?”

The OCD Loop involves a phenomenon among many Internet marketers where they exhibit a form of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in the way that they are obsessive about following a specific sequence of actions repeatedly throughout the day, in many cases.

What a lot of marketers will do before they take action on anything truly productive for their businesses is to start off by checking their email, where they take the time to read various emails, reply to emails, and even decide to write new emails because of something that reminded them to do so in another email.

Then, once they finish checking their email, maybe they decide to jump over to check out Google Analytics or another web stats program to see what type of traffic their sites have received, or maybe they login to their shopping cart to check out the details of any orders that may have been placed.

Once they’ve reviewed their latest conversion rates, opt-in percentages, and so on, they may surf over to their favorite discussion forums or blogs that they read on a regular basis to do some research on their target market, or even to other sites like CNN or ESPN to check out the latest news or sports scores.

Then, the amazing thing that happens after they’ve checked out all of the sites that they are accustomed to visiting, is they decide to check out their email, again, to see if they’ve received anything new that might interest them.

When they’re finally done checking their email a second time and visiting all of the sites they found promoted within those emails, they jump back over to their stats program, again, to see how things are going with their websites.

If you’re really honest with yourself, you need to ask yourself how often you actually allow yourself to fall into this OCD Loop, and fail to stay focused on doing the things that bring money into your business.

Your Lucrative Career as an Internet Marketing Virtual Assistant

With more and more companies, both small and large, conducting their business online, more and more of them are also looking to increase their internet presence and therefore need the assistance and guidance of a professional internet marketer. Internet marketing can be compared to a foreign language to some people who have absolutely no idea what it entails or where they should even begin to start.

Many begin their online business thinking that because of the vastness of the internet they will somehow magically reach their intended audience and become instantly successful overnight. For this very reason, there is an increased demand for what is known as an internet marketing virtual assistant, giving those with the knowledge and expertise to turn their efforts into their own lucrative business right from the comforts of home.

The Differences Between a Virtual Assistant and an Internet Marketing Virtual Assistant

The differences between a virtual assistant (VA) and an internet marketing virtual assistant (IMVA) can be subtle as well as completely distinct and unique from one another.

A VA usually performs the same tasks that a traditional administrative assistant would, including typing, data entry and word processing, as well as some customer service duties either via telephone or email, whereas an IMVA would be concentrating more on drawing in new customers and increasing the company’s sales and revenue.

A virtual assistant might respond to customer inquiries by email or create new content for the website, while the internet marketing virtual assistant would be busy creating and perfecting the website before submitting it to search engines and web forums to increase traffic.

While both positions are focused on bettering their client’s business, each has a different set of important duties in order to make that happen.

Could You Be a Virtual Assistant?

With the right skills set and determination, working from the comforts of your home as a virtual assistant can be a rather simple but lucrative business to embark upon. Today, an incredible number of individuals and companies are conducting their business in the virtual world and need reliable assistance to do so.

What is a Virtual Assistant?

A virtual assistant, often abbreviated as VA, is needed to handle all of the very same duties that secretaries and administrative assistants have done in traditional offices for many years, but thanks to technology, can now be done remotely via the internet and telephone.

Virtual assistants may work for other individuals as well as for small to large businesses and corporations and usually have the luxury of setting their own hours as well as their pay scale.

Typical Duties of a Virtual Assistant

While each and every type of business has their own unique needs, there are usually several constants that you will find that are needed from a virtual assistant, such as handling email or other similar web related tasks.

Here are some of the most common duties performed by a virtual assistant:

  • Administrative duties: Basic “office” skills, document preparation, phone work, typing
  • Bookkeeping: Accounting duties, including payroll or accounts payable and receivable
  • Customer service: Communicate with clients via telephone, handle inquiries and disputes
  • Data entry: Enter data into programs or templates, keep accurate records and databases

Be a Smart Mommy – Get to Know The BBB and FTC

Published by admin under Home Business Tips

Before working or doing business for anyone you haven’t heard of before, or may be having doubts about, thoroughly research the company first and check them out with the Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) website, which also has a list of work at home schemes and scams to be aware of. Visit the BBB’s search page at http://search.bbb.org/searchform.aspx and simply type in any of the company’s information.

Also, in the event you have already had a problem with someone in relationship to a work at home job, you have the option of filing a complaint with the U.S. government’s Federal Trade Commission (FTC), who won’t be able to actually resolve matters for individuals, but will act within the law should they deem the company in violation.

Complaints can easily be made by phone by calling 202-FTC-HELP (382-4357), or by mail at Consumer Response Center, Federal Trade Commission, Washington, DC 20580, or via the internet using their online complaint form. You can also request a variety of free brochures on similar consumer issues through the FTC.

Know your rights and be armed with the information you need to make an intelligent choice in the exciting world of working from home. There are indeed lucrative jobs to be had, the key is patiently weeding through all of the rest to find that one gem that will be the right one for you.

How to Keep Yourself From Falling Prey to Work at Home Scams

Published by admin under Home Business Tips

We’ve all read the advertisements and seen the “testimonials,” and many of us have, unfortunately, quickly fallen for what seemed too good to be true, and, of course, it was. Today, the unscrupulous prey on the emotions of the mom who is desperate to earn money but still be at home with her children and family.

For this, and many other reasons, work at home scams are multiplying by the dozens, faster than the authorities or the government can keep up with, so it’s up to us as individuals to be diligent in protecting ourselves, our valuable time, and our hard earned money.

What You Should Know About Working From Home

Perhaps the first and most important rule of thumb to follow when it comes to determining whether or not a work from home opportunity is legitimate or not is the old, simple standby, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”

Don’t allow yourself to be fooled by flashy advertisements, or those that seem business-like either, that offer claims of ridiculous amounts of money in a short period of time, or for a relatively small amount of effort on your part. As anyone who is a success financially already knows, it takes hard work, diligence and perseverance, as well as a certain amount of know how in your field in order to succeed, none of which are acquired or accomplished overnight.

Beware of any type of scam that is disguised as a “business opportunity,” two words that are commonly seen, especially online, when it comes to working from home. There is a distinct difference between a job an a business opportunity or investment, which is the key word here.

In the past, when you’ve filled out a job application for outside employment, have you ever had to pay money to do so? Probably not. So, why would you pay any money to someone else to work for them from your home?

If you absolutely must pay out money to invest in a legitimate opportunity that you have fully looked into and know for sure that it will benefit you, then pay by credit card, particularly if the amount is over $50 as all credit card companies insure charges over that amount should you have a future dispute.

Work at home scams often come in the form of bulk email solicitations. If you haven’t researched and found the company on your own, or were referred by a trusted friend, then proceed with extreme caution as millions upon millions of these mails are sent every moment of every day, and unfortunately, thousands are falling for countless scams of all varieties. Likewise, you certainly don’t want to get involved with any “company” that claims you can make money from sending bulk emails, chain letters, or by stuffing envelopes either.
